Be the last man standing

If you had met me many years ago you are not likely want to have anything to do with me because I was dealing with several inner demons that you would make you write me off. I survived because someone steppped out from the crowd to stand for me.

But one thing I vowed not to do was give up on myself or fail to seek help wherever I can find it. It taught me vulnerability which some thought was a sign of weakness but I found strength in it because it afforded me the opportunity to confront them headlong and find a way to get them sorted.

As I shed old feathers and step into newer levels new demons show up that I had to contend with but then I started to leverage on my past experience to deal with them so I smile when I see my clients struggle and seem stuck on the same spot.

Somehow I got into change work and vowed to stand between the living and the dead in nursing the hurting back to life and remain the last man standing when everyone walks out on the one in pains in need of one last hope to hang unto life and bounce back. Please note I don’t mean those unwilling to admit their wrong or gloat in their problems and behave as if it doesn’t matter. I am talking about that person out there ashamed to own up and looking for that soul to confide in.

Over the years I have sat in sessions and seen people bounce back to life. I have learnt the art of neutrality and creating a non judgemental hub where people can identify their shadows and confront them.

My journey has taught me that love has no other form expression outside of love and so as I grow I see those who used to be where I was and those who have passed where I am but I also see those sharing the same class with me and I appreciate the beauty of humanity

But I also see the liar stone the thief and the thief stone the one struggling with sex addictions while that one stone the one whose sexuality is a challenge while that one is ready to stone the drug addict who is all out to stone that one struggling with embezzlement of funds.

All of them are hurting and dealing with trauma but because their trauma is interpreted differently they feel good once they see the one whose issues seems bigger and whose issue is only made a big deal as a result of stardom which he has attained.

Our world is in need of saviours. We need the last men and women who are standing to nurse people back to life when the world works out on them.

Will you be that one to help people up again and give them the strength to keep up and pull through or will you be that one who will take the shot that eventually kills a man who just needs mouth to mouth resuscitation?

Where you stand is a choice but we must remember life is a seed and we reap in good measure, pressed down and shaken together what we offer others.

Give hope to someone today
Reach out to someone
Forgive someone who asked for your forgiveness
Show up for those who have no one to show up for them
Above all be an instrument of peace and reconcile humanity so that the lion and the sheep can sit together on God’s holy mountain without hurting each other

Stand to be counted because what you have overcome may be the exact spot someone else is still stuck at so don’t be too quick to forget your journey because it must become an inspiration and light for that person who can’t help himself or herself
